08/06/14 Jake Stevens Holland Curragh Irish Pub United States
Time: 9:00pm. Age restrictions: No Minors. Address: 73 East 8th Street, Holland Michigan 49423. Jake Stevens grew up in Grand Rapids, MI where his parents cultivated a strong sense of individuality and artistic growth in their home. Pianos, guitars and drums were always available and at hand at an early age, and books and movies provided Jake with a vivid mental playground, so it didn’t come as much of a surprise when he declared (at age 5, no less) that he wanted to be an actor. But music always came naturally, and Jake fronted and supported a number of local bands throughout the years. A two-year stint at Grand Rapids Community College provided a great introduction to his theatrical endeavors, and a continued education at Compass Film Academy furthered his performing prowess to directing, writing and producing. Music is his full-time occupation, though, and with one LP under his belt (“Spark”) and another on the way (“Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea”), the sky’s the limit for this unique talent.

08/20/14 The Sanger Brothers Holland Curragh Irish Pub United States
Time: 9:00pm. Age restrictions: No Minors. Address: 73 East 8th Street, Holland Michigan 49423. Rarely does a musician embark on a sonic journey with such radiant fervency like John Sanger has. A West Michigan-native, John has traveled the country and immersed himself in the experiences life has to offer. During the hard times John found himself reflecting upon his boyhood affinity for the beauty and wonders of the Great Lakes which soothed the occasional nights of lonely dreams and daily struggles. John Sanger’s songs reflect Americana themes we idolized as children contrasted with the reality check of adulthood. The roller-coaster of life’s trials and tribulations are answered with John’s mantra “life didn’t come with a play book so don’t be hard on yourself” and the essence of the John Sanger music experience. From the realization a relationship is lost and will never come back to offering apologies and asking repentance for poor decisions to the elation of knowing everything will be alright, John captures life’s moments as a reflection and relating in his songs. Like a sonic chef, John Sanger combines tasty lyrical and melodic ingredients into a delicious audio feast for the ears. His lyrics embody relationship experiences, changing life paths, and the celebration of life’s victories with a blending of music influences ranging from The Kinks, Elvis Costello, and The Band to Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, and Asie Payton to Woody Guthrie, John Prine, and Johnny Cash. The John Sanger experience does not require head-banging to release anger and stress nor require us to take life so serious that we cannot enjoy the journey. Instead, it’s about the ride and the ability to reflect, laugh, and enjoy life. From the moment you push “play” on your digital or non-digital music medium until the end of a John Sanger song, life experiences transform into a journey of sonic bliss.

Well, not anymore.”
